How Sai Baba Pulled Me and Showed His Presence

I belong to the Global Mahaparayan MP-567N1 Shri Sai US group and would like to submit my Mahaparayan experience to be shared anonymously with all devotees.  

Although the first part of my submission does not directly relate to Mahaparayan, I strongly feel it is important to make the readers understand how I became a devotee in the first place before experiencing the miracles of Mahaparayan.

I live in a suburb of Toronto, Canada. A little more than four years ago, my beloved father passed away and my mother’s mental function began to deteriorate rapidly. Within weeks of my father’s passing, my mother was diagnosed with an early stage of Alzheimer’s disease and I had to take over her day-to-day administration of affairs, which was always handled by my father prior to his passing. Suddenly, this responsibility rested on my shoulders, but I was ably assisted by my siblings. Before long, I was faced with dealing with the Government tax office, which was vigorously pursuing my mother for an error made by my father in her tax filings for a sustained period of time. I was afraid the savings my mother had in her name for her future care would be forfeited by the Government and that she was destined to suffer the rest of her senior life. As a result, my life became progressively more stressful and I began to suffer sleepless nights. 

During this time of turmoil, I took my mother to an ophthalmologist pre-surgery appointment for her cataract. While we were seated in the very busy waiting rooms of the eye clinic, a fellow patient, who happened to be of Indian descent, walked swiftly towards me and my mother and hurriedly handed me a printed piece of paper, which appeared to have been ripped off a book and said this is a prayer of Shirdi Sai Baba and urged us to read it and suggested we visit the Shirdi Mandir in Toronto. This woman was a perfect stranger. Neither had I met her before nor had I seen her since. I immediately told my mother that we must visit the temple without delay. A couple of days later, my mother and I visited the temple and poured our hearts out to Baba, and pleaded to bring a resolution to help my mother get out of the predicament she was in with the Tax Office. 

The next day, I was on a long-distance road trip with some friends and unexpectedly received a phone call from the Government office wanting to ask me a few questions about my mother’s case. I could not openly discuss the matter as I was in the company of friends, so I subtly answered a couple of questions and politely asked the caller to call me back in a few days when I was back in town to answer the rest. The official agreed. I nervously returned from the road trip and waited anxiously for the call. The scheduled time came and went but the phone call never came. A few days later, my mother received a letter from the Government stating her matter had been closed with impunity and no further action was necessary. Just like that, it was all over. No more questions asked. No more agonizing thoughts. No more sleepless nights. We were simply dumbfounded and hailed the glory of Baba for His amazing miracle. From that day forward, I became a staunch devotee of Shirdi Sai Baba and a regular visitor to the temple. Sometime after, at the request of a friend, I joined the GlobAL Mahaparayan group and started religiously reading the holy Sai Sacharitra every Thursday. 

Now about the miracles of Mahaparayan, I myself have been going through adversity for the past several years, and being part of the Mahaparayan group has been an immense blessing. It simply lifts up my spirits, brings calmness to my fickle mind, and renews my hope in life. I have experienced many miracles since and here is one that directly correlates to Mahaparayan. 

One Thursday earlier this year, I felt so hopeless and depressed. Restless thoughts and doubts started running wild in my mind. I said to myself that I have been reading the Sai Satcharitra for more than three years and there is still no end in sight to my suffering. I started questioning my rationale and will continue reading the Sai Satcharitra week after week. Feeling dejected, I kept postponing the reading for the day and instead focused my attention on inconsequential things. Finally, after asking my Mahaparayan group leader for some extra time, I sat by the window of my home office and commenced my reading. 

It was chapter 28 and I read the passage, which stated “Sai Baba often said that-let His man (Devotee) be at any distance, a thousand koss away from Him, he will be drawn to Shirdi like a sparrow, with a thread tied to its feet.” Since I was easily distracted that day, I misread or misunderstood the sparrow, in my mind, to be a pigeon and immediately looked out of the window and said to myself, I am not so sure whether Baba is actually taking note of my devotion. If Baba is really omnipresent, He will now make a pigeon appear outside my window and I began to anxiously gaze out for about five minutes straight. Soon, realizing that in the 16+ years I have been living in my town, which is in the countryside, I have never, ever seen a pigeon, so how can I now expect to see one so suddenly. Once reality sunk in, I returned to reading the rest of the chapter, only to be interrupted this time by my son who reminded me to walk our family dog. I told him I would do so soon after I was done reading my chapters. Then with Baba’s blessings, I completed my reading and ventured out with my dog on our usual route around the neighborhood. While on the home stretch of our stroll, my dog suddenly pulled me to the side of the road, lunging towards something that was moving gingerly. I held the dog leash tight and turned my full attention towards the object and lo and behold, it was a pigeon, just a couple of feet away on the ground, unfazed by my growling dog.

It just quietly stood there for a moment, looked at me, and then slowly started to waddle away. My agitated dog quickly calmed down, while I watched the pigeon in absolute amazement. When I returned home, I asked my family members whether they had ever seen a pigeon in our town. They all unequivocally said they had seen many species of bird in the neighborhood but never had they seen a pigeon. I spent the next few days asking my neighbors if any of them had ever seen a pigeon in the neighborhood and their collective response was similar to my family’s. I was awed by the experience and prostrated to Baba with utmost gratitude and reverence for renewing my faith by His miracle. Since then, pigeons have visited my home twice, in the last six months, once in a pair and the last time in a small flock, only to reiterate, in my mind, that Baba’s presence is real. I now have no doubts in my mind about Baba’s omniscience and never will I ever question my commitment to be part of the Global Mahaparayan group forever.

We rented out shops, which were not fetching appropriate rent. That problem got sorted within 2-3 months of my starting MahaParayan, even during Covid, which was really surprising. My hubby always sells his car after 3-4 years to get a good resale value, but this year due to covid it being prolonged for about six months, I said let me try and so thought of advertising it on OLX. To my surprise, without me adding DP, suddenly my DP was showing Sai Baba. I asked my son if he had introduced a Sai photo, but he said he had not touched my phone but it was a real miracle.

I was more surprised when, within three days of giving an Ad on OLX, our car was sold. All glory to Sai Baba.
